July Jazz Smolyan Festival 2006
"JULY JAZZ SMOLYAN 2006" will be the first edition of the annual International Etno-Jazz Festival in Bulgaria.
"July Jazz Smolyan" Festival will be the first of a kind in the rich music history of the country.
It will be held on open air, at the amphitheatre stage of the new centre. Thus the locals, as well as the guests of Smolyan will be in easy reach of the event. All of the jazz music fans from Bulgaria and abroad will have the chance to experience a cultural event of te highest quality and value.
The initiators of the festival mean to present the musical achievments of elite Bulgarian and world- famous musicians. The organizers will also provocate the style merging of jazz and etno music of different nationalities, which actually proved to be a tendency, recently gaining speed at the international music stages. That kind of music is attracting more and more fans of all ages and nationalities.
The "July Jazz" Foundation is formed by people of art and culture. Its mission is the organizing and carrying out of music events, as well as helping young musicians and artists to develop and populize the cultural traditions in Bulgaria.
At the internatiinal "July Jazz Smolyan" Fest bulgarian and foreign musicians will take place. Jazz cafes, jam- sessions, exhibits, film projections and work-shops of Theatre Academy of Columbia, USA are included in the jazz fest program.
The Jazz Fest will be a great opportunity for the local craftsmen, hoteliers and restauranteurs of Smolyan. No doubt, the festval will play an important role in tourism development in the region. The rich historical heritage and the wonderful natural resources of Rodopi Mountains are the most tempting attraction not only for locals, but for foreigners as well.
