We stayed here in the middle of February 2012. The general impression is that the hotel is excellent value for money indeed.
Good:
-helpful, smiling, English speaking staff;
-very fast restaurant staff, for table cleaning or bar orders;
-very, very good food; not too many courses to choose from, but the existing ones were very well cooked, very tasty. I would say they were cooking with the passion a mother cooks for her family;
-quick shuttle to Gondola, it would leave earlier than the schedule if needed and in the morning it ran at shorter intervals than the 30 minutes listed in the schedule, so people wouldn't wait for nothing.
-free parking in the hotel car park, not just on the street.
Bad:
-there was quite cold in the SPA area, pool and lockers. The weather was unusually cold outside (-10 ~ -15) so this might be the reason, but still.
-in the last 2 or 3 days there was a bit cold in the room as well, in the evening just for a few hours before going to sleep, even though the first days were fine. During night time and in the morning the temperature was fine, so this was just a small inconvenience, nothing too uncomfortable.
I previously stayed at Lion and Park Gardenia hotels, Lion is a little bit more refined and Gardenia has a better location, but Orbilux is by far the best value for money and i'll probably return here next year.
