WHAT IS GOING ON IN BANSKO?

BulgariaSki checked out what is going on in Bansko few days before the official opening of the winter season!
The manager of “Ulen” Joint Stock Company Ivan Obreykov explained how the pistes are being prepared for Winter 2005- 2006.
This season the pistes in Bansko are being renewed. The concessionary Ulen has sown grass on the slopes to prevent the pistes from erosion. New drain channels were constructed to divert the water from the pistes. Protective nets were placed on the slopes according to the European Standards for safety.
Banderishka polyana piste was covered with chernozem, brought by Razlog.
This year the Fun Park will be constructed in the Plateau area. The Half- pipe for snowboarders will be on Banderishka polyani.
The lift system was entirely checked and all necessary prophylaxes were made.
Heli- ski can be provided by the concessionary, but only upon preliminary demand!
The first snow already fell on the highest parts of the skiing area, and the snow cannons were checked. However it is still not enough for skiing. Obreykov promised that the snow cannons will start working as soon as the temperature reaches temperature 5 degrees below zero.
The snow on 60 kilometers of the ski pistes will be guaranteed by snow cannons. (The total area of ski pistes has reached 65 kilometers.)
