The New Season Opening in Bansko
On December 16 the ski season in Bansko will be officially opened with a grand celebration on the ski slopes. Like last year, the opening of the season will gather some of the world’s most famous skiers. Snowboard World Cup comes to Sofia
The International Ski Federation (ISF) paid tribute to the fast-growing Bulgarian snowboarding scene on November 17. At a special meeting, the ISF approved Sofia as host of a Snowboard World Cup round in the 2007-08 season.
Sofia is the second stop of the Nokia FIS World Cup Big Air tour. The most likely dates for the event are December 21 to 23 next year. The competition is not going to be held on a mountain. Instead, a special metal snowboard...

Snow report from Bulgaria
The official opening of the new winter season in Borovets will be on December 23, 2006.
Today the average temperatures in the mountain regions of Bulgaria will be -4. Snow is falling in Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo.
The snow canons in Bansko have already prepared a solid base for the snow cover on the slopes and currently piste N 8 is available for skiing, serviced by a drug lift. The gondola lift in Bansko is now working.

Bulgaria Set for Ski Tourism Growth
Bulgaria is set to become one of Europe’s top family ski resorts, a surprise survey result confirms.
A survey from Holidaywatchdog.com into the most popular family ski resorts has revealed a surge in demand for ski holidays to Bulgaria with the up-and-coming resort area of Bansko making a surprise appearance in eighth place. Three other Bulgarian resorts also featured in the top 30.
