29 May 2005: Beds in Bansko ski resort to double The bed capacity of Bulgaria's high-altitude resort town of Bansko will double after the construction of several new hotels is completed, it transpired after the official opening of the summer tourist season. The new facilities will have a combined capacity of 10,000 beds. The resort town has 6,000 beds at the moment. A five-star hotel from the Kempinski hotel chain, Grand Arena, is ready to welcome tourists.

Municipal involvement to jump-start Perelik ski resort project The Smolyan municipality will join the project for the Perelik tourism and sports complex and thus have the opportunity to safeguard the relevant public interests. The FIS Congress approved the starts of the World Cup in Bansko in 2009 Bulgaria officially received the privilege to host a round of the FIS World Cup Downhill race for women for the next racing season 2008/2009. 22 May 2005: Stoitchkov Gives Go-Ahead of Bansko Summer Season Hristo Stoitchkov, the coach of the Bulgarian national football team and an honorary citizen of the mountainous town Bansko, launched on Saturday the summer season in the town.
