Kom ski resort

Location

Kom tourist and sport complex is located just 15 kilometres from Berkovitsa, 12 km from the Petrohan gorge (approximately 52 km from Sofia). Kom is situated at 1500 meters above the sea level in the Balkan mountain range (Stara Planina mountain).

Climate

The snow cover lasts more than four months on the northern slopes of the mountain and thus provides wonderful conditions for winter sports like skiing, slalom and cross country skiing as well as different summer activities. The average annual temperature is 11 degrees with humidity 60-70%.

Tourism activities

Besides the cracking snow and white winter silence, the region down the Kom summit is suitable for bicycle ride, delta and paraplanerism. The place is generally used as a starting point for many tourism itineraries (Kom - Emine, International itinerary route E-3 from the Atlantic Ocean to the Mediterranean, Kom - Belogradchik, etc.)

In the nearby town Berkovitsa, tourists can visit the house-museum “Ivan Vazov”, the clock tower, the ethnographic museum. Just 9 km from Berkovitsa, is situated the Klisura Monastery – the forth largest monastery in Bulgaria.

How to reach Kom

From Sofia to Berkovitsa the distance is approximately 80 km. When you reach Berkovitsa town, you should keep going on the asphalt road until you reach the chalet “Kom” (16 km). From the chalet starts a marked pathway which will take you to the summit for about 2 hours (one way). This route might be steeper, but shorter.

Kom ski slopes

Ski pistes: The complex offers 1.5 km alpine ski run, surrounded by thick forest and serviced by two ski lifts. The new ski lift is an 800 m long drag lift. The old one is suitable for children.

In close proximity to the ski slopes are situated a ski school and two chalets with capacity of 132 beds which provide food and beverage.
