Meteorologists Forecast Cold Winter with Loads of Snow in Bulgaria Loads of snow will fall in the mountains at the beginning of December. Chilly winter with heavy snowfall, similar to the one in 1982 is expected in Bulgaria. Snow will fall even in November, because of the Atlantic whirlwinds, which will move to the east over the Balkan Peninsula. This was announces by the meteorologist Peter Yankov. By the beginning of December the mountains will offer 60-70 cm snow cover. December will be colder than usual. The winter this year will be humid with temperatures around the average. Long term forecasts like this are still experimental, but according to scientists from the Bulgarian Academy of Science the winter is the best forecasted season. The institute uses special index from the British Meteorological Service, which has proved to be effective.
