Welcomed 12% More Tourists for the Holidays The Bulgarian winter resort Borovets saw a 12% increase in the number of tourists that visited it during the Christmas and New Year's holiday in 2008 compared to the number of visitors in the winter vacation of 2007. The Chair of the Governing Board of the resort's concessionaire Borosport Neli Sandalska announced the increase came mainly from the large number of Bulgarian tourists that visited Borovets for the holidays, the Pari Daily reported. The number of the Bulgarian visitors at the resort for the holidays grew by 40%, and the number of Bulgarians using its ski facilities was up by 60%. Sandalska pointed out the increase in the number of Bulgarian tourists in Borovetz was largely due to the many days off that the Bulgarians got around Christmas and New Year's, which allowed them to plan longer winter vacations. The number of visitors of Serbia and Macedonia rose slightly - by 7%, whereas the number of Greek tourists was camparable to last year's.
