European Cup Pamporovo in 2012 A team of the International Ski Federation (FIS) made a visit to inspect the resort and expressed a high opinion on the conditions and confirmed the decision that Pamporovo will host a race of the European Cup for men in 2012. Mr. Markus Waldner, the coordinator of the European Cup in Alpine Skiing stated that he was pleasantly surprised by the maintenance of the ski runs, the excellent artificial snow system, as well as from the big investments and the new hotels in the resort. This was his first visit to Pamporovo, but in the recent years he came to Bulgaria several times. Mr. Markus Waldner: We, the International Federation, are very pleased to come back to Bulgaria with the European Cup. Pamporovo provides excellent ski-runs that meet all the requirements and have the required equipment. The race will consist of two slaloms at the end of January or the beginning of February 2012. Dates depend on several factors, including the engagements of the teams and the organizers at that time. After the inspection Mr. Markus Waldner met Mr. Tseko Minev, the Chairperson of the Bulgarian Ski Federation and Mrs. Tsvetelina Borislavova, the owner of Pamporovo AD. Mrs. Tsvetelina Borislavova: During the recent years we have made really big investments in the resort, which has resulted in significant improvements in the ski zone. We have built a modern artificial snow system, which covers most of the ski-runs, two new lifts, we have expanded the ski zone with new routes. The European cup is a natural result from the improved quality of the resort and recognition of our efforts. Mr. Tseko Minev pointed that Pamporovo Cup that will take place as a part of the national championship from the calendar of FIS, will demonstrate the excellent conditions for organizing competitions in the resort and will be a good trial run for the European Cup in 2012.
