Bulgarian Mountain Rescue Warns of Avalanche Danger

Sofia News Agency

After the heavy snowfall on Saturday, the weather in the Bulgarian mountains has cleared, but there is an increased avalanche danger, warned the Bulgarian Mountain Rescue Service. All ski centres are perfectly maintained and operating. Bansko, Borovets, Pamporovo and Chepelare offer perfectly maintained ski slopes and great entertainment programs. Hikers and skiers are strongly advised to be wary of the increased avalanche hazard, especially on windy slopes and around gullies and colours. They are reminded to only use winter trails. Saturday ski lifts in the Borovets resort suffered a crash, but will be working Sunday; facilities at Pamporovo are also working.
