Ghastley Hotel - except the pleasant staff. Should definitely be taken out of the UK skiing brochures.

Latest update on Hotel Elina - we stayed from 4th February 2007 and before going I read a review that said it was very bad and food was reserved from the meals before if not not eaten. I thought that it could not possibly be that bad but when the dessert from the previous evening was on the breakfast table, I believed the review. One morning there was no bread and staff said it had run out. We had to change rooms because the heating packed up after complaining on numerous occasions about the cold, but on the good side the staff were very friendly. The bar staff were very generous with the servings of local vodka at the start of the week but this was considerably reduced to standard pub measure by the end but price stayed the same at 10 lev for vodka and coke. We also got wise and started drinking beer at 2.50 lev for a large glass. The walk to ski centre one was only 10 minutes but there were some locals working at the end of the track who became a pest in asking for money etc - even opeing the minibus door and hanging on as the driver was driving away. The Balkan holiday rep was very friendly and helpful. Bulgaria 10 out of 10. Pamporovo 10 out of 10. Hotel Elina scrapes through with 5 out of 10

My wife and I were at this hotel from the 20/01/07 to 27/01/07. The room we were in smelled awful but you got used to it. Also, the room was cleaned every day so no complaints there. The food in the restaurant was atrocious, it was mosly lukewarm, and the selection was non-existent. There was no fresh fruit or vegetables and the leftovers from the night before was served up again for breakfast, then again in the evenings. The barman was very good and looked after us well, also, he always had a smile. There was supposed to be a hotel minibus in the evenings but that was not working and even if it was, we only found out about it on the Wednesday night. If you do stay at this place, be warned, the taxi fares to and from town are 15 to 20 lev and the walk into town is between 20 to 25 minutes and I would not walk it at night due to zero strret lighting. We had one day (Wednesday) when we could not ski due to adverse weather, but, when I asked at reception if skiing was going ahead on the Thursday moring, I was met with the standard reply of "I do not know". Needless to say, we will not be returning to this hotel. EVER!!!

We staye at Elina in Feb 2006 and are returning in Feb 2007. A lovely hotel in a truly beautiful, magical setting - looked like something from a Christmas card. Near enough to amenities for convenience but secluded enough for a tranquil break. Food excellent, staff friendly and welcoming. We used hotel transport a few times for journeys to and from town - really cheap, and you only have to ask.

Hotel is good,Foods are excellent but most beautiful thing is friendly welcome and nice and friendly people in the hotel.Me and my wife feel ourselves like home.

hello my name is amie i stayed at your hotel on february 13th-february19th.i really enjoyedd my stay your staff were very kind,helpful and welcoming.especially when i broke my leg. thankyou for a wonderful holiday.would you please say hello to harry and boris as i had pictures with both of them and beat boris on the pooltable. thanks again for a brilliant holiday amie xxx p.s i stayed in room no.210.xxx

stayed in the Elina there at the beginning of the year only back. hotel was great if not a little to warm. had to leave the windows open. however the food was excellent and the drink cheaper than anywhere else we went. the staff was excellent and as for the beautiful cCarrie she was a real treat.
