Happy New Year. Having just returned from our first skiiing holiday - Pamporovo Sat 5th Jan - as a familly of 5 we can say we had a great Holiday. We stayed at the Ceder Heights - self catering - which was the biggest let down of the holiday ! No restraunt - no lifts - no minibus transfer! - I could go on. But this did not spoil our time in bulgaria. Overall the people are friendly - but watch the bills? - if its not priced then check it - the price is never the same twice! The ski school was GREAT - If you end up with "TONI" as your instructor you will not go wrong - we were a group of 14 and within 6 hours lessons he had us up on the Green slopes !. The slopes a little busy on the last 3 days but overall very very good nice and wide and love the pine tree runs. - pleanty of snow on the Tuesday 2nd Jan which will make it good skiing now for a few weeks. Be warned it is cold in the mornings -18 c one day!!!!!. otherwise a steady -5 c. Which is nice. Hope you enjoy your stay - Phil

Stayed at Hotel Orlovetz in January. Beautiful hotel, beautiful room and bathroom, dressing gowns a nice touch, very clean, reasonably friendly staff, a 4 star for the 5 star rating. Food, still a bit hit or miss.. worth paying for a decent coffee in the bar rather than the morning nescafe. Piano bar singer something to be truly experienced.. pure comedy value but I'm not sure that was the desired effect. Great location, fantastic first choice rep Ivan, George The Super Hero Ski Instructor superb.

The pamporovo hotel is good however the staff seem incredibly unhappy !... the location of the hotel is great as its close enough to walk to the local facilities. The bedroom was decorated nicely however there were bits where the wall paper was coming away... work is going on in this hotel so be warned !. we have just come back from a week there and would class this hotel as 3 / 4 star and not the 5 star its the little extras such as polite staff and excellent service that make a 5 star and this is definately not it.

Beautiful hotel and excellent staff. The spa facilities are superb with a great variety of treatments.Food was really good with a nice selection for vetetarians, ideally situated in the middle of town max of 2 minute walk to most bars and 10 minute walk to ski centre. We would have liked tea making facilities in room and also an iron and board.Rooms are very warm at night with no temp control in rooms, other than that no complaints and would stay again.

We have just come back from a week at the '5 star' Pamporovo hotel. A more honest rating would be barely 3 star. Cold showers, intermittent heating and unfriendly staff. Shabby and by no means chic. Not enough tables in the restarant and the food was barely edible. The slopes were crowded and pisted about once a week. There are bargains and there is cheap. Bulgaria is certainly cheap.
