29 May 2005: Beds in Bansko ski resort to double
The bed capacity of Bulgaria's high-altitude resort town of Bansko will double after the construction of several new hotels is completed, it transpired after the official opening of the summer tourist season. The new facilities will have a combined capacity of 10,000 beds. The resort town has 6,000 beds at the moment. A five-star hotel from the Kempinski hotel chain, Grand Arena, is ready to welcome tourists.

Hristo Stoitchkov, the coach of the Bulgarian national football team and an honorary citizen of the mountainous town Bansko, launched on Saturday the summer season in the town.

With the finish of skiing season 2004-2005 Bansko Municipality has started fixing the roads in the resort, which were destroyed during the winter because of the heavy construction works going on in the resort. Bansko records incredibly high season 2004- 2005. 400 000 tourists have visited the resort and this number is almost doubled as it was the previous season. The high tourism flow and the perspectives for the development of the resort were commented by the head of the Tourism Council in Bansko Ianka Rahova, the mayor of the municipal Alexander Kravarov and the director of the ski zone Ivan Obreikov.

TOURISM BAROMETER: Super Borovets approval a step further
A LONG-EXPECTED project, dubbed Super Borovets, is on its way to become reality with some expert help.
