Motor Sleighs Replace Off-roaders in the Rhodopes
A new ski run connects Pamporovo and Chepelare


During the winter, tourists will be transported from the ski resort of Chepelare to Pamporovo by motor sleighs instead of off-roaders. Bansko Rivals Europe's Top Ski Spots

The Bulgarian resort of Bansko has been voted Europe's most improved ski resort in the first Great Skiing and Snowboarding Guide 2006 awards.

The Daily Telegraph reported that the popular Bulgarian resort was listed in the new guide, written by the newspapers' correspondent Peter Hardy and his wife Felice.

The ski pistes in Pamporovo won’t start operating until December 8th

The pistes in Pamporovo will not work until December 8th, announced from Radio Focus- Smolyan from the Mountain Rescue service. The ski equipment is now in prophylaxis and the pistes are not maintained, because it is still snowing.

Hristo Stoichkov back on the skis

Hristo Stoichkov will be on ski again, during the opening of the new season in Bansko, which will be on December 17th. Last year the coach of the National Football Team fascinated the audience with his attractive falls on the “Alberto Tomba” piste.
This year the five time world ski champion Marc Ghirardelli and the living legend Rozy Mittermaier will attend the official opening of the new winter season in Bansko.

Deep snow covers Bansko, Borovets and Pamporovo

In the afternoon in the mountain regions of South- western Bulgaria will fall snow, and later during the day it will start snowing all over the country.
This was announced by the meteorologist on duty, Orlin Lazarov from NIMH. Clouds will gradually cover the mountains; the high parts will be embraced by the cloud layer and snow will start falling. The snow in the Rilo- Rodopian zone will be heavy.
