Despite of the sunny autumn weather, the ski resorts in Bulgaria announced that they are ready for the new ski season and professionals expect an increased number of foreign skiers.

Touroperators reported a 10% increase in the early booking, announced the deputy minister of economy, energetics and tourism Ivo Marinov. He announced that all ski resorts are ready for the forthcoming ski season.

 According to data from the transport ministry, 983197 tourists visited Bulgaria during the period December 2011 – March 2012. Travel companies rely on the two majour travel exhibitions during the month. The World Travel Market in London will present more information on the interest of British tourists in Bulgaria.

 There is already an increased number of scheduled flights to Sofia and Plovdiv, stated Ivo Marinov. Experts announced a 4% increase in the number of charter flight bookings to Sofia. According to Ivo Marinov, Plovdiv airport has a 40% increase of the scheduled charter flights.

 Foreign tourists prefer to spend their winter holiday in Bansko, Borovets and Pamporov. The ski resorts in Bulgaria are a preferred winter holiday destination for tourists from Russia, Ukraine, Italy, Spain, Macedonia and Greece.

 The resort managers promised to avid an increase in prices. The prices of the lift cards and ski equipment is usually announced right before the start of the season, Pamporovo already announced that the prices in the resort will stay the same. According to the expectations Bansko and Borovets will also keep the old rates of ski services.
