Pamporovo ski season opening BulgariaSki.com, 21 December 2010 Bulgarian ski resort Pamporovo officially opened the new winter season 2010/2011 on December 18. The Bulgarian Olympic champion Ekaterina Dafovska and the Minister of Economy, Energy and Tourism Traicho Traikov participated in demonstration on the ski run. Ski teachers and children from Ski club Pamporovo also made demonstrative downhill. %RIMG1Bulgarian Deputy Minister of Economy, Energy, and Tourism, Ivo Marinov, who attended the ceremony at Pamporovo, said the country is expecting a better tourist season 2010-2011 with 3% increase of local tourists and 20% overall increase compared to last winter. %LIMG2Travel agents report increase in the number of reservations from Russia, Serbia, Macedonia, Greece and Romania while the Plovdiv airport has two times more flights compared to last year, according to its director. He further informed that the launch of regular flights to Spain was forthcoming. %RIMG3Pamporovo opened the season with sleeker, larger and renewed ski tracks while the ski run between Snezhanka and Studenets will have lighting overnight. Season lift passes at the resort are reduced to BGN 950 compared to BGN 1 480 in 2009-2010. Police patrols, fluent in foreign languages, will monitor the tracks. The discovery of mineral waters nearby to be used for SPA tourism is another news of the season at Pamporovo.
