Sent on 06 March 2006AVOID!!! Have just got back from Hotel Panorama and would strongly recommend you avaoid this place at the moment. As you approach the Hotel, you have to go past 200 metres of building works which kindly wake you up at 9am - when they are allowed to start using power tools!! Booked a double room and ended up with single beds, on the 3rd floor furthest away from the stairs There is no Lift so good luck dragging your cases to your room as I had to!! The food is more like a school canteen with a mix and match selection of food each night, though drinks are reasonably cheap. Ourselves and 2 other couples sank 8 bottles of Wine 6 beers and 12 shots for little more than Ј40. Mary Rose nightclub in the hotel is derelict and the Karaoke selections are slim and generally of a low standard (didn't stop me though!!) Watch out for the two budgies in the tiny cage, I dont think that they will make it till the end of the season with the amount of popcorn that they are fed, and how the nutty barman torments them by tapping on the cage. Restaurant staff are polite, helpful but do not understand english. Reception staff understand english, but play dumb alot of the time. Make sure you keep tabs of what you have from the mini-bars as they will sting you at the end of your hols and may add others on that you forget about... so save yourself enough Lev's to cover the bill or they will not give you back your passports!! THEY DO NOT ACCEPT ANY PAYMENT VIA CREDIT OR DEBIT CARDS so watch out!! Ski was great though even though you have to take a courtesy bus to the Ski Centres, but we did discover that you could walk to the ski runs if you wanted to. (Go up the hill towards the police hut and look right..... you will see a red run sign on the side of the trees...... head up that way and then branch of to the right and down the hill to the ski centre and the ski lift. This is quicker thean waiting for the relaxed bus driver that takes his time finishing his coffee before driving you down th hill!!) Accomo ** Food ** Location ** ЈЈЈ's **** Overall *** Any questions send me an email..... Ian -

Sent on 07 September 2005I stayed here in 1998 & 2001 prior to its redevelopment. Im looking forward to returning this year. I always found it a pleasant place to stay, Ok it was a bit basic but we didnt spend much time in the rooms anyway. Good craic was had, fond memories and friendships made in this little cracker of a hotel - maybe a bit quiet for the younger people but excellent location for the slopes! -

Sent on 24 January 2005January 2005. Just come back from an excellent holiday staying at Hotel Panorama. The food was good, always buffet style but a good choice(just be aware that Bulgarians like their food luke warm so if you want it hotter just ask for it to be microwaved, they are very accommodating). Ski school was excellent, I was a beginner going with 3 rusty-ish skiers. They all booked the intermediate class but were all assessed on day one and all 3 put into separate classes to suit their abilities; apparently there are 9 different levels, A1 (mine) being the beginners. So everyone benefited from the more focussed lessons. The instructors were all excellent, particularly ours, Joy, Ivan, Gorge & Cotsi, they really want to help you learn/improve. And if you wish to change classes at all, you can always move up or down accordingly. (However they won't move you up if they don't feel you are able). You cannot ski up to Hotel Panorama anymore (victim of its own success, more hotels being built have cut off that access) but it's not a problem because the hotel lays on free buses to and from the Ski Centre which is only just down the road, so it's just as easy. Drinking is very cheap (if you stick to local beer and spirits, which we did and they were excellent). Have a Kamenitsa (similar to Becks)in the bar after ski-ing (approx 0.95p for a litre bottle), Pepper runs the bar there and she is brilliant, nothing is too much trouble. And don't forget to visit the Mary Jane nightclub in the hotel, it's happy hour from 10.00pm - 12.00 midnight.2 drinks for the price of one, so 2 long cocktails cost approx Ј2.70. Everyone is so helpful, hotel staff, mini bus drivers, instructors, ski-school staff and the guys operating the chair lifts who were always there to slow it down or even stop it when I needed a bit of extra assistance. All in all an excellent holiday, we're definitely going back! -

Sent on 29 November 2002Not the ritz by any means - but we all ( a group of Irish ) enjoyed our holiday immensely. The Tavern is a great place for a bit of crack with the locals - have a drink with the ski-instructors who drink here - Hi Angels x2, and Silko ! The food for half board wasn't great ( that was a few years ago ) - the standard of food was better in the tavern though. Skis are fitted in the hotel lobby on the 1st morning and free storage - U can ski to the door in the evening - which I loved. Would definately go back.
