A demonstration of culinary specialties Balkan Cuisine was organized by UNESCO Regional Center at the Nikola Vaptsarov square in Bansko yesterday.
The demonstration took place within the framework of the celebrations for the 10th anniversary of the UNESCO Convention for the Safeguarding of the Intangible Cultural Heritage.
Balkan Cuisine joins the "Between Three Mountain Ranges" international folklore festival for the first time. Representatives of Serbia, Macedonia, Greece, Turkey and Bulgaria took part in th einitiative.
The participation of the UNESCO Regional Center is part of its 2013 program and aims to encourage the knowledge and promotion of the Balkan traditions, customs, folklore and cuisine.
The UNESCO Regional Center in Sofia started working on 20 February 2012. This is the first category 2 regional center in Europe. There are five centers of the kind across the world – in Japan, China, Republic of Korea, Peru and Iran.
